Pear 'Concorde'
This concorde pear tree is a sight to behold in springtime when it is covered in small five-petalled white flowers. These delicate blooms fall to make way for the edible fruits appearing in summer and ripening in autumn.
Concorde pears are luscious dessert fruits - juicy with a sweet flavour. They are similar to conference pears in shape and texture and feature a yellow-green, sometimes russeted, skin. Concorde pear trees produce a reliable annual crop, with a small yield appearing on the tree’s second year and full yields around 3 years later. Concorde pear trees are self-fertile, but planting a partner pear tree nearby will increase the amount of fruit produced.
This pear tree variety is suitable for container gardening and grows well in large pots. Place some stones or pebbles in the bottom of the pot to assist drainage and add weight to prevent the tree from being blown over. Bear in mind that trees grown in containers need watered more often than those planted in the ground.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
