Aptly named, this mix of baby plants comprises a Chinese Money Plant, a Spider Plant, and a Parlour Palm and is completely safe to leave around pets. The worst you need to worry about is the cat knocking a pot off the shelf!
Pilea Peperomioides has many common names including Chinese Money Plant, UFO Plant, Pancake Plant, and Missionary Plant. Most of these names are derived from the plant’s interesting round leaves, which sit upon long, arching bright green stems. Chinese Money Plants reach an eventual height of 30-60cm and are perfect for decorating shelves, sideboards, and desks with unusual greenery.
Instantly recognisable, the Spider Plant is a quintessential house plant that never goes out of style. Long slender foliage is variegated with creamy white stripes and arches out to create an attractive shape. Spider Plants grow up to 60cm tall and are renowned for being easy to propagate through new plantlets forming on mature plants.
Better known as Parlour Palm, Chamaedorea elegans features bright green stems arching with long, slender leaves. Given the right conditions, mature Parlour Palms can produce flower spikes with clusters of tiny yellow blooms. Chamaedorea elegans reaches an ultimate height of up to 120cm, making it an excellent statement plant.
Whether you choose to display your new baby house plants together or separately, they don’t need a huge amount of attention to flourish. Place each plant in indirect light or partial shade, taking care not to choose a position where strong sunlight can cause leaf scorch. Water weekly, when the top 2-3cm of soil feels dry and reduce watering during the autumn and winter months when the plant isn’t growing.
