Cordon Apricot Tree

From Dhs. 268.00
  • Apricot trees are a glorious addition to any sunny garden – even small gardens! That’s right, with a cordon-trained apricot tree you get delicious, juicy fruits from a narrow columnar tree that doesn’t take up much room. The dream.
  • ‘Flavorcot’ is an impressive self-fertile variety that yields wonderfully sweet, succulent apricots that are perfect for both eating fresh and using in desserts
  • ‘Tomcot’ boasts heavy crops of large fruits that can be dried and kept for many months when stored correctly
  • Our expert growers have carefully established the proper cordon shape for your apricot tree, meaning all that’s left for you to do is to give your lovely tree a yearly prune. The bulk of the pruning is carried out in summer, with occasional winter pruning also being helpful as the tree matures. Our top pruning tips are as follows:
    1. Towards the end of summer, in August, cut back shoots that are over 20cm long, reducing them down to a single leaf beyond the cluster of leaves at the base of the current year’s growth (this grouping of leaves is called the basal cluster)
    2. If you find that your apricot cordon’s spurs are becoming overly crowded or busy, which happens sometimes with more mature trees – then thin out a few of the less productive, older spurs in winter
