This beautiful ornamental cultivar is seen as one of the best varieties of Hornbeam thanks to its bright green, ribbed, toothed foliage which gains deep hues of red and yellow in the Autumn months, while its leaves usually persist beyond most other deciduous trees to create some late Autumn interest. During the Spring pale green catkins may be spied among the leaves and are followed by small winged nuts.
Plant in moist, well-drained soils. Be wary of overly acidic, dry soils. Keep in full sun. Tolerates exposed areas and grows tall, making it perfect for windbreaks or screening.
