Summer Pudding Soft Fruit Plant Collection
Embrace the berry and tuck into one of our favourite summer puddings. A quintessentially British dessert is summer pudding - packed with juicy berries. Stick to a classic recipe containing redcurrants, blackcurrant and gooseberries, or try a modern version with blackberries, strawberries, raspberries or blueberries for an extra kick! Whatever you choose to add in, either way it's a delicious and easy to make dessert using fresh fruit, warmed by the summer sun, from your own garden.
Our 'Summer Pudding Collection' contains 1 plant each of the following varieties:
Blackcurrant Ben Connan - This is a good blackcurrant variety as it is a compact grower and produces high yields of large fruit on medium length trusses, which makes the normally fiddly job of picking blackcurrants nice and easy. Ready to pick from mid July.
Redcurrant Rovada - Ripens a bit later than most other varieties of redcurrant so the fruit has even longer to get naturally sweeter! Excellent crops of large, high quality fruit - yields of 9kg/20lbs from just one bush are quite normal. Ready late July/early August.
Gooseberry Hinnonmaki Yellow - Cropping from late July, the greenish-yellow fruits are very fragrant with a zesty, apricot twang! Gooseberry Hinnonmaki Yellow is a vigorous and heavy yielding variety with a spreading habit and may benefit from some support later in the season.
Plants will be despatched as dormant, bare root plants for immediate planting in your garden.
