Prunus 'The Bride'

£181.00

Prunus incise Bride is a small to medium-sized crowned tree or large shrub that is a charm to the eyes in spring. It is a beautiful little cherry tree that will light up your garden from the end of March from its pale pink flowers that later turn pure white with striking red heart in the centre. Its foliage is intense green before taking flamboyant shades of red and orange in autumn.

The striking autumn leaf is narrow, long and pointed. It drives bronze green to fresh green colours in the summer. In autumn the foliage shows beautiful shades of orange, red and purple. Flower buds are pink. Before the sprouting of the leaves, the tree gets very lush with pink flower buds. They may be followed by dark red, round-oval fruits.

This Japanese cherry will grow well in all but extreme conditions such as very wet or very dry soils. It prefers well-drained, nutrient-rich, loamy garden soils. The flowering cherry tree adapts to well-drained soils and it appreciates sunny spots in a garden.

It is an undemanding tree with low upkeep. No pruning is required except some cutting of the long shoots in spring to preserve the shape of the tree. To avoid damaging flowering, choose a location sheltered from the winds.

Prunus Bride is an ornamental shrub that can be a fine specimen in lawns, or can be grouped together in flowering hedges, large garden and park, or even in large containers.
