Prunus 'Shōgetsu'
The Japanese Flowering Cherry tree is also known as the Blushing Bride. It is one of the most popular Cherry trees offering fabulous blossoms that are often carried by the bride in wedding ceremonies and are also used to decorate wedding reception event venues.
Prunus 'Shōgetsu' bursts forth in April and May with large, double flowers that hang down in elegant pendulous bunches. The flowers open as a delicate pink shade and turn to bright white as the season progresses. In autumn, the tree brings a splendid display of bold orange and red leaves before they fall.
Your Japanese Flowering Cherry tree has an elegant spreading habit and will grow to approximately 4m height and a 6m spread in a 20 year period. It is tolerant of most soil types but try to avoid very wet or chalky soils. It is fully hardy and can be planted in full sun. Prunus 'Shōgetsu' is also tolerant of pollution, making it an ideal choice for urban gardens.
