Prunus 'Shidare-Yoshino'

Show off your green-finger skills and create a perfect hide-away in your garden! The ‘Shidare Yoshino’ has pendant branches that weep downwards, almost reaching the ground. This is the ideal small tree to create a romantic spot for a love bench or a fairytale space where the children can play make-believe games.

Weeping Yoshino Cherry trees offer a stunning display of single white flowers in spring that smother the branches. The flowers have a lovely almond scent that attracts bees, butterflies and pollinating insects into your garden.

The leaves emerge as a bronze colour and slowly mature to a luscious dark green. In autumn they put on a fabulous final show in colours of fiery red, orange and yellow before falling. Autumn also sees the appearance of dark red fruits which will remain on the branches well into the winter. The fruits attract birds and other wildlife, adding further interest to your garden space.

Prunus 'Shidare Yoshino' is fully hardy and can be planted in full sun. It is tolerant of most soil types, apart from very wet or chalky areas and is also ideal for urban gardens as it is pollution tolerant.

This lovely tree is a great choice for a smaller garden reaching heights of 4m and spreads of 3m in a 20 year period. It can also be planted in a container and used to add a wonderful ambience to a sunny patio.
