Prunus 'Asano'
An interesting breed of the ever-popular Japanese cherry tree. The Prunus ‘Asano’ is a slightly smaller variety that will fit nicely into more structured gardens with its upright, somewhat columnar habit with its slender branches carrying tight trusses of deep pink flower which bloom heavily laden with petals, giving the flowers a ruffled, puffy look. The foliage surrounding it is a rich, dark green and appears around the same time or soon after, lasting until the autumn where it gains soft Autumn colours.
Grows well in moist, fertile, well-drained soils and is best kept in full or partial sun. Tolerant of most soils as well as heat, drought and humidity once established.
