Pachira aquatica
Pachira Aquatica, also known as the Money Tree, Guiana chestnut, Saba nut or French peanut, is a large evergreen tree popularly grown as a houseplant, often seen as several plants braided together for a distinct, attractive look.
The stems start out green, gradually becoming brown, and are adorned by large, glossy deep green leaves. When mature, the tree releases unique-looking blossoms with creamy petals and vivid red stamens that start out white at the base. The flowers will appear in summer, followed by fruit come autumn.
Its popularity as an indoor plant for living spaces or offices stems from its tropical looks, ease of care and tolerance of lower light levels.
In Asian culture, the Money Tree symbolises wealth, happiness and financial luck - perfect housewarming gift for someone you care about.
Your Pachira will thrive in a position that benefits from full shade or partial shade, in a moist but well-drained loamy soil. Take care not to overwater the plant, and only water it when the top 5cm of soil are dry to touch. Make sure to dispose of any excess water and avoid waterlogging.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth.
