Magnolia 'Heaven Scent'

Magnolia 'Heaven scent' is certainly sent from heaven - this beautiful small to medium sized tree delights! It starts off with glorious white flowers emerging in mid to late spring. The flowers have a goblet or vase shape and deepen to a pale pink with a dark pink base as they mature. A distinctive stripe marks the back of the flower. The flowers are about 10cm in length and have a lovely scent that is attractive to both humans and wildlife. You will soon notice a wonderful variety of pollinating insects, birds and butterflies visiting your garden. The pink shade of the blooms contrast beautifully with the dark green foliage.

Plant your Magnolia 'Heaven Scent' in moist, clay soil and either neutral or acidic soil. It is fully hardy and will tolerate frost down to -18 °C, making it ideal for cooler regions. Plant in full sun if possible to get the best colour out of the blossoms.

Your Magnolia tree has an upright habit when young but tends to develop a spreading habit as it matures. It will reach a height of around 6m and a spread of around 4m in a 20 year period if left unpruned.

Heaven Scent magnolia requires very little maintenance and will reward you with a glorious display of fragrant lush pink blooms. Plant where it can be seen from your study window as you work. It also makes a great ornamental tree as a focal point and will look wonderful standing next to your entrance gate.
