A cross between a gooseberry and blackcurrant, it has all the virtues of both, but is thornless and disease-resistant. Fruits are an attractive black/red shade and are packed with Vitamin C and have a gooseberry-like flavour, which becomes more blackcurrant-like as the fruit matures. Lovely in pies and jams. Well worth a try and great for container growing. We offer all our potted fruit plants in 2ltr pots, this will give you an older, more established plant with a bigger root ball than those offered in 9cm pots. The extra space gives the roots more room to grow, which in turn allows them to absorb more nutrients leading to a stronger plant that will establish more quickly and fruit more prolifically to begin with. Floricane varieties fruit on canes produced in the previous year while Primocane varieties produce fruits on current season growth.
