'Green Globe' Artichoke Plants
- Artichokes are one of the most ornamental edible plants out there. The cruel thing is that, in order to see their amazing flowers, you have to leave your artichoke hearts unharvested!
- Our tip? Harvest some, leave others. That way, you get a crop of delicious artichokes and those giant, thistle-like flowers which appear when you let the plant be. The beautifully-layered artichoke heads look fantastic before being harvested, too, adding great visual impact to any space they grace.
- The taste is deep and complex, combining earthy notes with nutty undertones. Roast your artichokes in high-quality olive oil, salt and pepper, and let those brilliant flavours come to the fore. You can also grill your artichokes, use them in salads or whack them on the top of a pizza.
- If you do leave your artichokes untouched so that they bloom, then you can expect the lovely sight of bees, butterflies and other pollinating insects looking for their own little feast.
- Grown with love and care under glass at our nursery, you’ll receive your artichokes as healthy young plants ready to go in the ground. Expect to harvest your first artichoke heads between 12 and 16 weeks later.
