Euonymus 'Paloma Blanca' Patio Tree
Euonymus Paloma Blanca is also known as Japanese spindle tree but is more often called white candle due to the bright white, almost flame-shaped, leaves that appear from early spring. This cultivar grows well in pots and containers and is perfect for brightening up patios, driveways and terraces, as well as flanking entrances.
Euonymus is often grown as an evergreen shrub in garden borders. However, trained into a patio tree shape, it makes an excellent addition to any garden. Patio trees provide height and structure to an outdoor space, enhancing garden design and decorating areas of paving or decking.
This Paloma Blanca variety features a tall single stem trunk with a mound of dense foliage at the top. The leathery, glossy leaves are toothed and produce an unusual effect throughout the year. The first leaves to emerge in early March to June are white, with progressively darker green leaves following. Insignificant green flowers appear in spring and fruit may occasionally appear on mature plants in autumn.
Japanese spindle is a hardy patio tree, however, you may wish to provide additional insulation around the pot to protect the roots against winter frost damage. White candle thrives in moist, well-draining soil and is happy in most soil types. Like all plants, pot-grown specimens do need to be watered more frequently. Position the tree in partial shade or full sun to bring out the contrasting colour of the leaves.
Please Note: When purchasing plants, please consider that each live item is unique and may therefore differ from the images shown, which are for illustration purposes only. The plant will be supplied in a growers pot. Depending on season, some plants may be pruned back to encourage growth and deciduous plants may arrive without leaves.
