Copper Beech Hedge
Fagus sylvatica Purpurea is commonly known as 'Copper Beech' or 'Purple Beech' it is an extremely popular UK native hedge that displays stunningly bright purple foliage in spring before showing off wonderful copper/bronze leaves in Autumn. Fagus will often keep it's leaves all year round, giving you the benefits of a colourful dense screen hedge throughout the year.
Purple Beech prefers well-drained chalky soil, but will do fine in any type of soil as long as you avoid very wet conditions. Fagus grows at around 1-2 feet per year but can be cut to a manageable size.
