Blackberry ‘Thornfree’ produces an excellent crop of top-quality big black fruits in late summer and early autumn, on completely thorn-free canes that make harvesting easy. The canes can be trained against a wall or trellis.
Plant in a sunny site, in soil that has had plenty of organic matter (compost or well-rotted farmyard manure) dug in to improve soil structure.
Train canes against a wall, tying them back to horizontal support wires spaced 45cm (1/5ft) apart, or up a trellis.
Water plants regularly in dry spells.
Feed with a general purpose fertilizer in spring.
