Amelanchier 'October Flame'
The Amelanchier canadensis more commonly known as October Flame is a small deciduous tree with white 5 petaled star like flowers which bloom in Spring. The Amelanchier canadensis has beautiful ovate foliage which is a healthy green, which transitions to a bright orange-red in the Autumn. It produces small fruits in June-July which are edible but are most commonly enjoyed by the birds, however have been known to be made into jelly.
The Amelanchier canadensis thrives best in boggy, damp conditions where it can grow into a beautiful small tree or a large shrub. Plant this tree in full sun to ensure that you get the best Autumn colours from the leaves.
