Acer 'October Glory'

This stunning tree certainly lives up to its name - it is truly glorious! In autumn it puts on a spectacular show of vibrant scarlet red, amber orange and golden yellow leaves. It is a deciduous tree, remaining bare in winter with the hint of small crimson flowers and winged fruit in the spring. The leaves offer a three-lobed shape and are a luscious glossy dark greeny-blue throughout the summer months.

October Glory is a fully hardy tree that thrives best in fertile, moist and well-drained soil. It will however, grow in most soil types. To get the most of its vibrant autumn colours, plant in neutral to acid soil and choose a spot that is sheltered from strong winds. Plant in full sun or partial shade where it will grow to a round-headed oval shape reaching heights of 6m with a spread of around 4m in 20 years.

The stunning October Glory is ideal for any medium to large sized garden. Create a focal point where it can offer shade for a summer picnic table and benches. Plant in rows along a boundary wall or boulevard or plant one in a dull corner to create a burst of colour and draw the eye when autumn arrives.
